What is YaraAmplix OPTIFRESH?
A specialised fertigation biostimulant combining Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed-derived bioactive compounds with nitrogen, potassium and EDTA-chelated micronutrients. What is Ascophyllum nodosum?
Ascophyllum nodosum is a species of brown seaweed that grows naturally on rocky North Atlantic shores. It is a marine alga—not a terrestrial grass—and is recognisable by its olive-brown fronds and small air bladders.
It lives in the intertidal zone, where it repeatedly experiences salt water, air exposure, sunlight, cold and changing moisture conditions. The Malaysia training explains that this demanding environment influences its chemical composition and encourages the formation of stress-related bioactive compounds.

Direct Soil Application
Apply through soil fertigation or soil drench. The Malaysian label gives a general programme of 7–20 L/ha per season, normally 2–5 L per application, according to crop requirements and nutritional status.
Tank A or Tank B
Add 1–3 L per 1,000 L of 100× concentrated stock solution in Tank A or Tank B, then deliver the diluted nutrient solution to crops rooted in soil.

Malaysia Chilli Trial
The Malaysia training trial in Kulai, Johor evaluated the effect of soil-drenched OPTIFRESH on red-chilli yield and quality. Chilli was planted on 20 October 2025 and red fruit was harvested on 14 January 2026.

What Did the Kulai Trial Show?
Higher Total Fruit Weight
Total red-chilli weight per plant from two harvests was approximately 36% higher with OPTIFRESH under the trial conditions.
Heavier Individual Fruit
Red chillies of similar length recorded a higher average individual fruit weight with OPTIFRESH.
Better Weight Retention
At room temperature, treated samples lost approximately 4 percentage points less weight after seven days. At day three, weight loss was approximately 5% versus 7%.

Application Conditions
Avoid rapid-drying or extremely slow-drying conditions, frost, rain or expected rain. Where practical, treat during the cooler hours of the day to support absorption.

Is OPTIFRESH a post-harvest preservative?
No. It is applied during crop growth through fertigation or soil drench. It supports the crop before harvest and is not a fruit dip, disinfectant or edible coating.
Does OPTIFRESH prevent fungal or bacterial spoilage?
It is not positioned as a fungicide or bactericide. The available Malaysia training trial measured yield, fruit weight and post-harvest weight loss—not pathogen control.
How can it help reduce post-harvest weight loss?
Its seaweed-derived bioactives, potassium and chelated micronutrients support osmotic regulation, antioxidant defence and plant stress tolerance. These effects may help harvested produce begin storage with better tissue hydration and integrity.
Can OPTIFRESH be used in hydroponics or substrate systems?
No. Although the training discusses nutrient recalculation for such systems, the current Malaysian label specifically states that OPTIFRESH is not recommended for hydroponic and substrate systems. The label takes priority.
